Construction of the TAG Bridge Benefits Residents of Nsalaga Ward in Mbeya City

The completion of the TAG Bridge, measuring 30 meters in length and 7 meters in width, has significantly improved connectivity between the city of Mbeya and Mbarali District, specifically at Nzagala Ward within the city.

The bridge has become a major benefit to residents by easing transportation and the movement of goods.

Speaking in a special interview, the Chief Technician of TARURA in Mbeya District, Mr. Mayungu Mbita, said that a total of 299 million Tanzanian shillings was allocated for the construction of the bridge after the previous one was destroyed by heavy rains.

Residents in the area mainly engage in farming activities such as growing vegetables, maize, and beans. The construction of this bridge has greatly simplified agricultural activities in the ward, especially in transporting produce after harvest.

Mr. Alfred Maneno, a resident of the ward, explained that previously, during heavy rains, the bridge would often be washed away, making it difficult to transport crops. He added that the situation was risky and stressful due to poor accessibility, forcing residents to take longer alternative routes, including using the tarmac road on the other side to reach Ndundu Street.
